Bretta I. Hines, Esq.
Bretta I. Hines is an associate attorney with Peterson, Logren & Kilbury, P.A. and was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in October 2017. Bretta joined our firm in 2019, after working in workers’ compensation defense at another Twin Cities firm. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Hines worked in employee benefits for a large insurance company for ten years.
Bretta attended Mitchell Hamline School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. While in law school, Bretta was active on the Mitchell Hamline Law Review, received a CALI award for legal research, and was nominated for a Burton Award for her legal writing. Bretta also effectively obtained settlement of an employment discrimination claim through the school’s Employment Discrimination Mediation Clinic and worked as an extern for the Minnesota Elder Justice Center. Additionally, Bretta did obtain the hours of learning necessary to meet the qualified neutral requirements under Rule 114.
While at Peterson, Logren & Kilbury, P.A., Bretta has presented to clients on various “hot topics” in workers’ compensation, prevented the wrongful assessment of workers’ compensation penalties against a client, and has written several appellate briefs to the Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals.
As an attorney, Ms. Hines practices in the areas of workers’ compensation, employment law, and personal injury.
